In March, our own Brandon Kelly accepted a call to become the next Lead Pastor at College First Church of God here in Findlay. Brandon will be with the CGGC through the end of July and the completion of the 2019 Triennial Sessions before he transitions across town to College First. Moments like this typically cause some to ask “what’s the backstory on the situation?” Here’s the story: Brandon was approached by the leadership at College First to apply for this position late last year. After walking through a very thorough discernment process, both the leadership of College First and Brandon came to a clear sense that God was leading and that they would respond in obedience. College First extended a call to Brandon and he accepted that call.

Moments like this are certainly bittersweet. Brandon has brought much to our ministry here at the General Conference office and so we’re sad to see him go. Many of you have been blessed by his gifts and talents and we’ve appreciated the great leadership and skill that he’s brought to our team.

At the same time, we’re certainly excited for College First and the next season of ministry they will experience under Brandon’s leadership. We also sense that the Lord is asking Brandon to take this next step in his life and ministry and are grateful for his willingness to listen and obey.

With Brandon’s forthcoming transition to his new role, this means we have a position to fill. We are now accepting applications for the role of Director of Strategy and Developing Leaders. You’ll find the job descriptions for this role at the end of this announcement along with a link to the application. We encourage applications to be submitted no later than June 15, 2019.

I’d like to ask you to do a couple of things in this important time of transition.

First of all, pray. I’d humbly ask you to pray for the search process. We are confident that God has prepared a special man or woman for this important time and work. Pray for discernment; both for the candidates and the search committee that will carry out the work of identifying the best person for this role. It’s incredibly important that we identify the person that the Lord has raised up for this next season of work and ministry.

Second, encourage and recommend. Perhaps there is someone in your circle of influence who needs to prayerfully consider applying for this role? If you know someone who follows Jesus faithfully, has a proven track record of executing strategy effectively, and has demonstrated the ability to build teams of leaders who are able to develop other leaders, perhaps you should introduce them to this exciting opportunity.

I’m so encouraged by the great work that Brandon has done during his time with us at the CGGC. He’s built a great foundation for the next person whom God calls to continue to build upon that work. There is still much work to be done and this is a wonderful opportunity for someone to help the CGGC maximize our collective potential for kingdom impact.

One of the things I’ve appreciated most about Brandon is his diligence in both listening to the Father and responding in obedience to the Father. Hearing and obeying: both skills have to be developed consistently over time. I am confident that the Father has been preparing someone else over many years of listening and obeying, hearing and responding in obedience. It’s our sense that the person who fills this position will play an important role in helping the CGGC continue to clearly hear from the Lord and respond in obedience as we seek to faithfully carry out the work the Lord is calling us to do.

If you have questions or would like to know more about this position, I invite you to contact me at lance@cggc.org or 419-424-1961. Again, applications are to be submitted no later than June 15, 2019.

Continue to pray that the Lord would make His will clear to us as we seek Him and serve Him.

Christ’s Peace,

Lance
