2008 ACTS Team – Haiti

Spend a week serving along side the beautiful people of Haiti and the Haitian Conference of the Churches of God, General Conference. This ACTS Team will travel to Haiti and work in partnership with the ministries of the Churches of God, General Conference. This team will focus on three areas of ministry: medical mission, children’s ministry and ministry to young adults. Team members will be able to learn about the Haitian culture firsthand as well as experience this beautiful Caribbean country.

We need team members with the following gifts: Musical abilities, vocal abilities, worship leading, leading small group discussions, teaching children and those with a general interest in medicine and health care. If you have a love for Christ, a love for others and a desire to serve cross culturally in a team ministry, we invite you to apply for the 2008 ACTS Team to Haiti.

Team members will need to gather in Eastern Pennsylvania (exact location to be determined) on Monday, May 12, 2008. The team will spend some time in training, orientation and team building on Monday afternoon and evening. The team will fly to Haiti on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 (the flight will depart from Harrisburg International or Baltimore-Washington International). The team will spend some time observing and assisting at a medical hospital, visiting churches and schools to perform children’s ministry programs, and offering ministry to young adults. On Tuesday, May 20, 2008, the team will travel back to Eastern Pennsylvania (expect a late arrival – after 10 p.m.). Team members with significant journeys home will be encouraged to spend Tuesday evening in Eastern, PA (we will help arrange suitable lodging) before returning to their homes on Wednesday.**

2008 ACTS Team - Southwest U.S.

Spend a week serving along side the Southwest Ministries of the Churches of God, General Conference. This ACTS Team will be assisting the Gamerco, Tsaile, and Hooghan Nizhoni churches in their unique ministry to their local communities. Team members will spend part of their time at each of these three churches. Team members will be able to learn about the Navajo culture firsthand as well as experience the beautiful Southwestern United States.

We need team members with the following gifts: Musical abilities, vocal abilities, worship leading, leading small group discussions, teaching children and teaching youth and the ability to perform some light construction (painting, etc.). If you have a love for Christ, a love for others and a desire to serve in a team ministry, we invite you to apply for the 2008 ACTS Team to the Southwest U.S.

Team members will be expected to arrive in Findlay, OH no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008 for orientation and team building. The team will fly to New Mexico on Saturday, June 28, 2008 and will travel to the Gamerco Church outside of Gallup, N.M. The team will spend Sunday through Thursday partnering in ministry with each of the three congregations in the Southwest U.S. There will be a variety of ministry experiences that you will be involved in: from helping with children’s and youth ministry, to performing some light construction and repair work on homes. On Friday, the team will tour the beautiful Canyon de Chelley and return to Gamerco to make final preparations for the trip home. Saturday, July 5, 2008, the team will travel back to Findlay, OH (expect a late arrival – after 10 p.m.). Team members with significant journeys home will be encouraged to spend Saturday evening in Findlay (we will help arrange suitable lodging) before returning to their homes on Sunday.**

2008 ACTS Team – Pittsburgh Project

Spend a week serving along side of the great people of The Pittsburgh Project (www.pittsburghproject.org) in the beautiful city of Pittsburgh. This ACTS Team will travel to Pittsburgh and work in partnership with The Pittsburgh Project to address the problem of substandard housing throughout the city of Pittsburgh. This team will be performing general construction tasks as well as building relationships with the homeowners they serve. Team members will be able to learn about urban culture firsthand as well as experience the amazing city of Pittsburgh.

We need team members with the following gifts: Ability to work hard, general construction skills, a willingness to learn, and good relational skills. If you have a love for Christ, a love for others and a desire to make a difference in Urban America, we invite you to apply for the 2008 ACTS Team to Pittsburgh.

Team members will need to gather in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania (1 hour south of Pittsburgh) on Saturday afternoon, August 2, 2008. The team will spend some time in training, orientation and team building on Saturday afternoon and evening. The Team will worship with the Mt. Pleasant Church of God on Sunday morning before traveling to the headquarters of The Pittsburgh Project. The team will spend the week doing general construction and repair work to a home while building a loving relationship with the homeowner. On Saturday, August 9, 2008, the team will travel back to Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania (expect to arrive around noon). Team members will be free to travel home at that time.
